The brand new fall semester is bringing new alternatives for college students on the Chula Vista campus of Southwestern Faculty. A contemporary $66 million Performing Arts Center is now open. It was financed with bond cash authorised by native voters in 2016.
The 41,000 sq. foot state-of-the-art constructing homes an auditorium theater that seats greater than 500 individuals, and a smaller black field area for extra intimate performances. The Performing Arts Middle can also be stuffed with lecture rooms and trendy dance studios.
Mary Jo Horvath is a veteran dance professor who has taught at Southwestern Faculty for 31 years. She is utilizing her classroom studio to coach and domesticate the distinct and various expertise coming from the South Bay neighborhood.
“Some are coming in with Folkloric coaching, some with Polynesian coaching, stomach dancing, Latin dancing and also you’re going to have those self same individuals in a ballet class, faucet class or a musical theater class,” she stated.
